What should we pay attention to when selecting the parting surface of the mold?

In order to take it out, the mold cavity must be opened. That is to say, the mold must be divided into two parts, i.e. fixed mold and moving mold. The contact surface of these two parts is the parting surface.

The following problems should be paid attention to when selecting the parting surface:
It should be selected at the largest section of the overall dimension of the injection molding part to make the injection molding part smoothly taken out of the cavity.
The surface quality and appearance requirements of the injection molded parts as well as the accuracy of size and shape shall be ensured.
The parting surface should be conducive to exhaust and prevent overflow.
It should be easy to process and simplify the structure of the mould.
The selection of parting surface of plastic mold is not only related to the normal forming and demoulding of plastic parts, but also affects the structure and manufacturing cost of the mold. Generally speaking, the overall selection principle of parting surface is to ensure the quality of plastic parts, facilitate the demoulding of parts and simplify the mold structure.
It includes the following contents:
The parting surface shall be set at the position with the largest section size of the plastic part to facilitate demoulding.
It is beneficial to ensure the dimensional accuracy of plastic parts.
It is beneficial to ensure the appearance quality of plastic parts. The parting surface should be avoided as far as possible on the smooth and flat surface or arc surface.
Try to meet the use requirements of injection molding products.
In the process of injection molding, the process defects such as demoulding slope, flash, ejection trace and gate trace are inevitable. When selecting parting surface, try to avoid the influence of process defects on the use function of the parts.
